Hello, and welcome to Streetsboro News. My name is Jon Hannan and along with my brother, Pete, we have teamed up to bring Streetsboro News to life. As a kid, I always enjoyed reading the newspaper. Streetsboro used to have its own newspaper, the Gateway News. Unfortunately, in August of 2016, the Gateway News closed its doors for good, leaving behind a gap in local news coverage, dedicated solely to Streetsboro, OH. In 2017, I created the Streetsboro Information and Discussion Page on Facebook, hoping to fill that void. The page has been rather successful, nearing 10,000 members. However, a Facebook page is not the best place for information, and I always had the idea of starting a dedicated news source for Streetsboro. Fast forward and here we are. Streetsboro News is officially launching.
Although Streetsboro is covered in a few other publications, Streetsboro News is looking to strictly cover Streetsboro. Our format will be strictly online, as most news is read online now and due to the costs associated with starting a print newspaper.
We ask for your support in this journey. It will not be perfect from the start, and we have a contact section on the website for you to reach out with story ideas and ways to improve.
Please subscribe to the newsletter. We will be starting with a monthly newsletter, but plan to increase the frequency once we get going. In December, there will be an article that highlights 2023 and takes a look towards what 2024 has to offer.
