Meet Streetsboro - Marianne Glenn Ward 1 City Councilwoman

"Meet Streetsboro" was a series started by the Gateway News when the paper covered Streetsboro. Streetsboro News is bringing that series back in an effort to get to know the people who make Streetsboro a great place to live and work.

Our next person on the "Meet Streetsboro" series is Ward 1 City Councilwoman, Marianne Glenn. Marianne was appointed to the vacant Ward 1 City Council seat in 2023 and then was elected to a new term in the same position in November of 2023.

What is your occupation?

Property Manager at Ridge Point Properties LLC

How long have you lived in Streetsboro?

Marianne has been in Streetsboro for 32 years.

Position elected to?

Ward 1 City Council

Why did you run for local office?

I thought it was time for me to become more involved in our city decisions by becoming the voice for the Ward 1 residents. I intend to represent them to the best of my abilities.

How long have you been in office?

5 months

What is the biggest thing you have accomplished in your position? (If you have already served)

When first appointed, we were just starting the Community Center, so that has been exciting to be a part of and see through. We also broke ground on the City Center project which I am happy to be a part of and see the redevelopment of that site.

What's the biggest thing you want to see happen or accomplish during your upcoming term?

I would like to improve the interaction between the residents of our city and our city council by getting more input and feedback from the residents who have elected me to represent them. I am also excited about seeing the above mentioned projects completed.

How would you describe Streetsboro to someone who has never been here?

Streetsboro is a great place to live, it has great people who truly care about one another!

What is your favorite thing about, or favorite thing to do in Streetsboro?

I really enjoy attending our community events such as Family Days, our City’s Bicentennial, Trunk or Treat and sporting events at our school.

Tell us about your family.

I’ve been married to my husband David for 32 years. We have 2 adult daughters, Amber and Ashley and a son in law, Brian.

What are your hobbies?

Gardening, cooking and baking, health and fitness, reading and listening to music.

Who do you admire the most? (Excluding relatives)

I admire anyone who has been through significant adverse events who has persevered, rebuilt their lives and become an example for others to follow.

Interesting fact that most people don't know about you?

I grow all of my vegetable plants from seed, mostly heirloom varieties. I start planting in January every year.

Look for future articles of the recently elected officials for the city and school!
